The customer needed to reduce the number of sub-standard items produced of a particular spigot common to a number of engine types.
Typically, manufacturing constraints meant that batch sizes were numbered in the hundreds. If the last part to be produced fell within tolerance (in the order of a few microns), then the entire batch would be approved.
However, if this was not the case, the batch had to be scrapped. Often, several batches would be rejected before size was achieved – an expensive process.
Naturally, the ability to achieve extremely fine adjustment (down to less than a few microns) constitutes a considerable advantage in maintaining consistency of production. Rigibore®’s ability to deliver an easy-to-use, ergonomic solution to this requirement was instrumental in winning the order.
As a result, the manufacturer now suffers far fewer reject batches.
