A well-known aerospace firm, supplying on a sub-contract basis to a commercial aeroplane manufacturer, needed a special overturning tool to machine a critical component within a hydraulic application for an important sub-system in a new design of aircraft.
With an inherently complex shape, varying chamfers and several cutting edges to take into account, keeping the tool operational within close tolerances was a considerable challenge. At the same time, the customer needed the tool within a relatively short period of time in order to meet contractual obligations.
Using our proprietary RADS™ software, Rigibore® engineers were able to generate a suitable design to customer approval within days. Machining, inspection and despatch of the tool could then promptly be accomplished.
Rigibore were able to go from receiving information on the relevant variables and desired performance of the bespoke tool to actually delivering it in less than a week.
